For Real is an exhibition of recent graduates from Rhode Island School of Design’s Digital + Media MFA program. Coming from diverse backgrounds from all over the world, these nine talented artists have worked closely together for the past two years to produce inviting works which examine states of consciousness within contemporary culture and society. The title For Real expresses the contradiction in creating fantastical situations while being conscious of its unattainability in a physical reality. From concepts including childhood memories, to psychological states of anxiety and tension, to using technology in an attempt to create meaningful relationships or tangible art objects, each artist makes a unique approach to communicate a feeling of longing for things that do not have a physical existence.

This exhibition has been made possible by the generous support of Tompkins Projects and the Digital + Media program at the Rhode Island School of Design.
